Dr. Mona Chitre is the Chief Pharmacy Officer and President of Pharmacy Solutions of Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and family of companies, focused on bringing market-leading pharmacy solutions to communities across the country.

With close to $3 billion in annual drug spend under her management, Mona focuses on innovative and collaborative ways to drive affordable drug costs, quality outcomes, and strategic relationships while responding to the rapidly changing pharmacy landscape.  In her role as President of Pharmacy Solutions, she helps to set the strategic direction and provide oversight for margin, revenue, and sales in addition to quality operations and clinical performance.

Mona has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of strategic leadership roles within the organization. She has been instrumental in achieving industry-leading pharmacy and medical drug cost savings and quality outcomes. Her guidance has resulted in achieving a 5-star quality rating from CMS for a prescription drug plan for seven consecutive years. Mona was instrumental in developing a number of innovative pharmacy programs, including a pharmacy concierge program, which has become a market gold standard.

Mona is passionate about giving back to both her profession and the community.  She is an active member of numerous boards advocating for innovative programs and education within the pharmacy industry, including the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Foundation, Civica Script, and the NY State Board of Pharmacy. She currently serves on the board of the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes, and has had a longstanding commitment to both community service and professional mentoring. She has been recognized by the Diversity Journal as a Woman to Watch, and has received numerous awards for her contributions from the Rochester Business Journal including 40 Under 40, Woman of Excellence, Athena Award, and Circle of Excellence.
