History
As health care evolves, AMCP Foundation's work is more important than ever.
We continue to rely on you to enhance the practice of managed care pharmacy and cultivate future leaders.
Our Founding
We've been committed from day one to advancing the public's health care needs. In 1990, the same eight individuals who founded AMCP two years prior boldly took one more step. Our founders realized AMCP's important efforts to promote the honor and integrity of the practice of pharmacy in a managed care setting could be significantly extended. Our organization was created as the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy in 1990 and renamed AMCP Foundation in 2013.
Our initial leaders filed a charter to establish a Foundation, describing "charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes closely related to the function of the Academy." The dream was – and is – for the AMCP Foundation to support the "diffusion of knowledge to those interested in the delivery of pharmacy services in managed care."
We fulfill this mission by helping managed care pharmacy address patient needs through access to unbiased, evidence-based information and training. Our goal has always been to help the public get the best available, best value drugs to maximize their pharmacy benefits.
While operating as a supporting organization of AMCP, the Foundation focuses on preparing leaders to serve patients in the evolving health care environment.

Our 25th Anniversary
In our first quarter-century, AMCP Foundation produced an extensive body of research that contributed to the tools, strategies, and programs managed care pharmacy has utilized to advance health care quality and patient outcomes. As seen in the below video, your AMCP Foundation also provided real-world educational opportunities for hundreds of student pharmacists, paving the way for leaders in the field.
To commemorate our 25th anniversary in 2015, a special campaign was chaired by Kathleen Moreo and Doug Burgoyne. We are grateful to all 25th anniversary donors.
