AMCP Community Generously Sends Socks to Houston's Families in Need
We extend a Texas-sized THANK YOU to all who sent socks online in support of needy families in Houston. The charitable sock collection we organize in each AMCP conference host city expands awareness of managed care pharmacy, while providing AMCP members the opportunity to give back.
This year's effort resulted in 362 pairs of socks for our community partner, Clothed by Faith, whose mission is to provide one week's worth of clothing, shoes, new socks, and new underwear to children and adults in need. The clothing is carefully assembled by volunteers and beautifully presented in gift bags with notes of encouragement.
The Greater Houston area served by Clothed by Faith was expected to host AMCP 2020, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the last few months, Clothed by Faith reported an even greater need among the families and veterans they serve due to the coronavirus crisis.
"We are very grateful to AMCP Foundation for choosing Clothed by Faith as the recipient of your sock collection this spring," said Susanne Hewson, general manager and founding member. "Thank you so much for this campaign and coming alongside us to help those in need in the Houston area."
“Our sock drive is a fun and meaningful way to come together – even when we must stay apart!” exclaimed Paula J. Eichenbrenner, MBA, CAE, AMCP Foundation executive director. “We’re so proud of the AMCP members and attendees who rallied despite the cancellation of our annual meeting.”
