From Paula's Desk: Foundation Means Well(ness)

Dear #AMCPFdn Friends,
We often say that AMCP Foundation Means Well(ness). AMCP Foundation means well, since we have a charitable mission. And we mean wellness! Next week, we are hosting daily afternoon breaks to remind AMCP Virtual Nexus attendees to take time away from their screens to breathe, stretch, and center.
I’m super excited for our signature fundraising event, our Virtual 5K for the Future. Register now and get moving the week of Oct. 19! The race is at your own pace, running or walking. AMCP Foundation means (well)ness — for you, and for our profession. When we are stronger individually, our organizations are more resilient.
Moving past Nexus, you might be ready to apply a more intentional commitment to your own health and happiness. Check out the Pharmacist Well-Being Index, maintained by APhA and The Well-Being Index/Mayo Clinic. The free index provides pharmacists (and student pharmacists!) with a way to anonymously assess well-being. Assess yourself on dimensions including likelihood of burnout, meaning in work, quality of life, and overall well-being.
Visit the index to sign up using code APhA and create a profile. You’ll need to supply some demographics such as state, years in practice, practice setting, and gender. You can set up optional reminders to update your responses on a schedule of your choice.
Ultimately, managed care pharmacy is most effective when we each prioritize wellness. What other tools do you use to optimize your performance? What else can AMCP Foundation do to elevate the conversation about resilience in managed care?
Gratefully and hopefully,
Paula J. Eichenbrenner, MBA, CAE
