Stewardship---It’s More Than a Thank You Letter
Dear Supporters and Friends,
Welcome to the first edition of the new quarterly newsletter of the AMCP Foundation!
I’d like to share a concept in the world of foundations and charities called “stewardship.”
Not too long ago, people in the fundraising community used to think stewardship meant sending a thank you letter to donors – and that’ it. Others considered being good “stewards” of a donor’s resources only meant making sure donor gifts were being used wisely for their intended purposes.
At the AMCP Foundation, we take a different view of stewardship. The core of our commitment to stewardship is progressively building deeper relationships with our donors. That means in addition to thanking you for your support, we want to communicate much more. We want to interact with you in ways that solidify and grow your commitment to the Foundation, because you see the value in our support for education and research to advance managed care pharmacy and patient care.
Like nearly all foundations, our biggest challenge is generating financial resources to provide us the means to accomplish our mutual objectives.
The center of what we do is the AMCP Foundation’s Annual Appeal – which we call Building a Bridge to the Future. Our goal is to raise $100,000 by November 7, 2014. The progress report in this newsletter indicates we are well underway, but much more help is needed to reach our target.
Two events at the upcoming AMCP Annual Meeting in Tampa are designed to engage donors and build relationships—the 5kfortheFUTURE race and walk and a Casino Night. They’ll be fun and great networking opportunities.
We know that successful relationships involve two-way communications. Besides this newsletter, we’ll be sending periodic surveys on proposed activities that will give us the insights needed to design effective programs.
As you become more engaged with the Foundation through our newsletter and monitor our progress towards our goals, we hope you will see the value of our work to advance managed care pharmacy and patient care and support the activities of the Foundation.
Sincerely,
Edith A. Rosato RPh, IOM
