Deanna Horner is Chief Pharmacy Officer for Waltz Health, a digital health disruptor aimed at rewiring the pharmaceutical marketplace to make medications more accessible and affordable. Deanna leads clinical and regulatory compliance for her organization and provides thought leadership by harnessing her provider and payer expertise. Deanna spent about ten years on the provider side first as a critical care pharmacist at UCSF Medical Center before transitioning to Tenet to develop inpatient and outpatient pharmacy programs and providing clinical informatics support during transitions to more automated systems.
Deanna worked at UnitedHealthcare for almost eight years building quality, clinical, and specialty programs. Prior to joining Waltz Health, Deanna served as Chief Pharmacy Officer for UnitedHealthcare Government Programs to help UHC members and providers identify and access high value, clinically appropriate drug therapies that improve patient health and safety. In this role, her accountabilities included formulary and trend, manufacturer rebate negotiations, pharmaceutical pipeline, competitive intelligence, clinical programs, utilization policy, specialty drug management, and clinical operations.
Among other professional affiliations, Deanna currently serves on the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) Board of Directors, a non-profit organization with a mission of optimizing health by advancing the quality of medication use.
Deanna lives in Aurora, IL with her husband and two daughters. Outside of work, she enjoys golf, pickleball, group fitness, reading, supporting the arts, and traveling.
