Nomination Information
Award recipients are recognized as role models who have made significant and continuing contributions to the advancement of managed care pharmacy in the areas of clinical practice, research, education, public policy, and/or administration. Honorees embody the values that Steven G. Avey demonstrated.
Individuals will have excelled in any or all of the following criteria:
Leadership
The individual has displayed leadership in their career that has resulted in the professional growth and recognition of the practice of managed care pharmacy. Their actions distinguish them as a role model and mentor within the profession. Leadership has been demonstrated by serving on boards related to the practice of pharmacy and/or in a voluntary capacity within organizations focused on pharmacy, public health, or health care.
Research
Activities in this area have led to outcomes-based achievements in population health.
Professionalism/Advocacy
Accomplishments in this area include lectures, presentations, publications, and other activities that advance the practice of managed care pharmacy, as well as contributions to policy that enhance the delivery of health care and/or pharmacy services at the managed care organization or public level. The individual has also demonstrated a strong commitment to patient advocacy.
Innovation
The individual has made a significant contribution that has led to the development of new concepts, processes, or improvements in health care delivery through managed care pharmacy activities or services.
Collaboration
The individual demonstrates a spirit of collaboration through their work with multiple stakeholders, both inside and outside of the profession, to advance the practice of managed care pharmacy and/or improve the health care delivery system.
Nomination and Selection Process
Anyone may nominate a candidate. Self-nominations are also accepted. Each nomination must be supported by four additional individuals. Nominees may also be asked to provide supplemental qualifying information.
Required submission materials include:
- Completed nomination form
- Nominee's CV or résumé
Nominations must be submitted online at award.amcpfoundation.org.
AMCP membership is not required. Current members of the AMCP Board of Directors, AMCP Foundation Board of Trustees, and employees of AMCP or AMCP Foundation are not eligible. The award may be given posthumously.
The final selection is made by the AMCP Past Presidents & Founders Advisory Council following initial screening and scoring conducted by the Steven G. Avey Award Committee appointed by AMCP Foundation.
