This Scholarship was funded by AMCP Foundation’s Cathy A. Carroll Memorial Fund, honoring the legacy of Cathy Carroll, PhD, MBA, BS Pharm an esteemed pharmacist and economist who was a trailblazer in outcomes research and strategic business development. The scholarship recipients align with Dr. Carroll's values and passion for the industry.

The scholarship awards two pharmacy students $2,500 towards their education. Students are also encouraged to come to the AMCP Nexus to network and learn more about managed care pharmacy.

The HBCU Travel Award provides grants to defray travel expenses to AMCP national meetings, enabling future pharmacists to connect with industry leaders, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and gain valuable insights into managed care pharmacy. 

Each awardee receives $1,500 to defray expenses to attend AMCP’s national meeting and a one-year AMCP student membership.  

AMCP and AMCP Foundation proudly partner with AMCP affiliates to expand opportunities for student pharmacists at HBCUs and promote diversity and inclusivity in managed care pharmacy.

Award recipients are acknowledged by their peers as visionary role models who have made significant and continuing contributions to the advancement of managed care pharmacy.

Nominees are expected to demonstrate the qualities of the award's namesake, Steven G. Avey, by exemplifying volunteerism, integrity, and vision.
