Intern Perspectives: Kenneth Keown, AMCP Foundation/Pfizer Oncology Internship
Over the course of the past 10 weeks, my internship with the AMCP Foundation/Pfizer Summer Oncology Internship at CVS Health has been nothing short of extraordinary. This transformative experience has not only been a tremendous learning journey but has also unveiled a world of opportunities I never knew existed, fostering significant professional growth.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ebony S. Clay, PMP, and Elene Wogedersgne of the #AMCPFoundation for orchestrating and overseeing this exceptional summer internship program. Their dedication and commitment to creating an enriching environment for Pharm.D. candidates like me have been instrumental in shaping my perspective on the field of pharmacy.
I also extend my sincere appreciation to Nadia Malik, PharmD, and Sarah McLarty of CVS Health for their unwavering support and the invaluable chances they provided me to engage with the company's leadership. Through these interactions, I've gained deep insights into the nuances of the PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) specialty field and its profound impact on patient care.
Furthermore, I want to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Vila Shetty and Scott Bourret, PharmD, MHA, from Pfizer. Their mentorship and guidance have been invaluable, especially in the context of my capstone project. The encouragement and recognition of the importance of my project by both have been incredibly motivating, highlighting their unwavering dedication to advancing the field of pharmacy.
As a culmination of this enriching experience, I am thrilled to announce that I will be presenting my capstone research project at AMCP Nexus in Orlando, Florida, from October 16-19. This opportunity is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am brimming with excitement about sharing my findings and insights with fellow professionals in the field.
These past 10 weeks have been a journey of growth, learning, and inspiration. I am deeply thankful to all the mentors, colleagues, and organizations that have made this experience possible, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the field of pharmacy with the knowledge and insights I have gained. This internship has been a pivotal milestone in my career, and I can only speak of it in the highest regard.
